Writing in on the Huffington Post, Phil Cooke claims that Christians' voices are being drowned out because of a love/hate relationship with the media, a relationship that is driving Christians to retreat to safe zones instead of engaging with the wider...

  3. Dining review: Forget your arteries and lap it up at Slater's 50/50

There's a new burger and sports TV joint in Pasadena. We're calling it the Testosterone province of Cholesterolistan. The owners call it Slater's 50/50. The 50/50 stands for the makeup of their burger patties — 50% ground beef, 50% ground bacon. There's bacon in the ketchup, in the salt and in the brownies, and, if you ask for it, in the milkshakes.

  15. Review: 'Cooked' by Michael Pollan

Michael Pollan went shopping for lunch in a Brooklyn, N.Y., supermarket, and the news made the New York Times. That the Times' Dining section had asked him to go, along with Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Michael Moss, was the major reason, of course. But the idea of asking Pollan, the man who coined the dietary dictum, "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants," to come down from the Mount Olympus of artisan food that is Berkeley, Calif., to shop with the hoi polloi in a regular ol' supermarket struck me as interesting, fun and, most of all, newsy.

  19. Easy dinner recipes: Moroccan chicken soup and more!

Soup. It's the perfect one-dish meal. A little of this, a little of that -- before you know it, dinner is served. It's simple. But perhaps the best thing? Soup always seems to taste best the next day, after the flavors have really had a chance to marry. Make a big enough batch and you have more than one meal covered. Honestly, could it get any more perfect?

  21. Nashville remembers Patsy Cline

Miss the marker out front, and you might confuse the building for just another office on Nashville's Music Row, but step inside the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, and you'll find the studio that gave us many of country music's most historic recordings.
