Floats from several local cities earned awards from judges who made their decisions on the eve of the 2013 Rose Parade.
Burbank's float, called "Deep Sea Adventures," won the award for best display of fantasy and imagination.
The Glendale float, "Living the Good Life!," took the Governor's Award for best depiction of life in California.
La Cañada Flintridge won for best animation with its float, "Dino-Soar."
South Pasadena's "Sailing the Sea of Knowledge" won the Founders' Award for the most beautiful float built by volunteers.
Los Angeles won the Mayor'a award for best city entry with "Making Connections," and tiny Sierra Madre won the Isabella Coleman award for best presentation of color and color harmony with "The Sky's the Limit."
The Sweepstakes award for most beautiful entry in the parade went to Dole's float, "Dreaming of Paradise."
