A Pasadena day care center was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning, with flames and smoke visible from the Foothill (210) Freeway as the building burned.
Firefighters were called to the Neighbors Acting Together Helping All day care center at 456 W. Montana St. at 5:15 a.m., according to Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian.
It took 45 minutes to knock down the blaze, with both Pasadena and Los Angeles County firefighters on the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the building is likely a total loss, Derderian said.
The day care center is located behind the Opportunities for Learning Charter School. The school building was unaffected by the blaze.
