Renaissance Academy 67, Muir 51: In a local showdown, it was the Wildcats who kicked off the first round of the Rose City Roundball Classic with a resounding victory Tuesday afternoon at Pasadena High.
Sophomore guard Marquise Mosley led his squad with 17 points, while Steve Herve chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds, Alex Bargenton tallied nine points and Matt Der contributed eight points for the Wildcats, who next either play Leuzinger or Sylmar on Thursday.

Mayfield Senior 58, Holy Family 26: It was a good start to the season for the Cubs in nonleague play Tuesday afternoon at home.
Mayfield led, 33-11, at halftime in rolling to the win behind a game-high 14 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two assists from Mary Baggott. Megan Villar added 13 points, three assists and six steals and Remy Traglio contributed 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Windward 58, La Salle 40: Despite being tied at 11 after one quarter, the Lancers were outscored by 15 points in the second quarter and never recovered in falling in pool-play action of the Palisades Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
San Marino 8, Westridge 1: The Titans opened their season with an easy home win on Tuesday afternoon, led by a brilliant effort from forward Hope Welder, who led the way with four goals.
Jordyn Duncan added two goals, while Kelly Crowley and Quinta Addis also contributed a goal each.
Mayfield Senior 5, Maranatha 1: After a relatively close first half, the Cubs outscored the host Minutemen, 3-0, in the second half in the season-opener for both teams Tuesday afternoon.
Senior midfielder Kennedy Dinius was the Cubs’ star Tuesday, assisting on two goals to Bergen Onufer and Cailin Beadles on crosses and then scoring on a free kick. Jessica Sarni also scored an unassisted goal, while Mayfield’s last score from Amanda Mendoza was assisted by Maddie Pena.
Cubs keeper Marissa Valenzuela finished with one saves.
Maranatha’s lone goal was a first-half score from Laura Mason, which was unassisted.
Minutemen goalie Alex Ojeda finished with five saves.
