GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Westridge 59, Rio Hondo Prep 40: Senior guard Erin Golden hit eight of 12 shots in scoring a game-high 22 points as the Tigers won at home in Prep League action Thursday afternoon.

Guard Lily Lim scored 14 points, junior center Carmen Costa contributed eight points and 13 rebounds and forward Courtney Sloan collected 16 rebounds for Westridge (6-2, 3-1).

Pasadena Poly 73, Webb 35: Kiki Yang led the way for the Panthers with a game-high 25 points, 13 steals, nine assists and four blocks as Poly picked up a Prep League road victory Thursday afternoon.

Center Kaitlyn Olah added 19 points and seven rebounds, while Catherine Lehman chipped in 14 points and six rebounds and Courtney Foster tallied eight points, five rebounds and four assists for the Panthers (9-2, 3-0).

South Pasadena 73, Los Angeles Price 32: The Tigers picked up their second victory in as many tries in pool-play action of the El Segundo Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, South Pasadena improved to 10-2 and will face El Segundo on Friday at 4:30 p.m. for the right to advance to Saturday’s tournament championship at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Maranatha 59, Kamehameha Maui 46: Jeremy Major scored 17 points in leading the Minutemen to a pool-play victory in Wednesday’s Lahainaluna Invitational in Maui.

Michael DeMeester added 14 points, freshman Zachary Smalley chipped in 10 points and Jalen Jones contributed nine points for the Minutemen (5-2).

Pasadena Poly 53, El Monte 36: The Panthers improved to 8-1 after a nonleague road victory Tuesday evening.

Will Genske led the Panthers offense with 18 points, while Curtis Toyota chipped in 13 points and Griffin Carter contributed eight points in the fourth to seal the win.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Marshall Fundamental 5, Blair 0: The Eagles received goals from four players, including a pair of scores from junior striker Angie Marin in picking up a nonleague home victory over the crosstown Vikings on Wednesday.

Brittany Gutierrez, Erika Perez and Jordan Snowden added goals, while Rylee Page, Quetzali Del Villar and Perez added an assist each for the Eagles (7-2-2)

Westridge 1, Chadwick 0: A goal from Julia Matthiessen was all the Tigers needed in a Prep League home victory Monday afternoon.

Goalie Ashley Hebard finished with six saves for Westridge (4-3, 1-1).

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Pasadena Poly 15, Garden Grove 3: The Panthers outscored the visiting Argonauts, 6-0, in the first quarter and never looked back in a nonleague home victory Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore Lindsey Kelleher led the way with 10 goals, while central defender Allison Woo added two goals for Poly (8-0).

Panthers goalies Alyssa Paul and Natalia Sanchez-Nigolian combined for five saves.

A day earlier, the Panthers took care of visiting Westridge, 22-2, in Prep League home action Wednesday afternoon.

Woo paced Poly with six goals, while Kelleher and Caroline Harvey added four goals each and the trio of Kelly Berg, Olivia Treister and Alex Clark both scored two goals each. Sanchez-Nigolian and Paul combined for seven saves. Westridge fell to 1-6, 0-1 as Clare Schneider and Amanda Matthiessen each netted a goal for the Tigers.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Long Beach City College 71, Pasadena City College 57: Stella Ghazarian and Kaitlyn Park led the Lancers with 12 points apiece in a road defeat Wednesday evening in the South Coast Conference season-opener.

The Lancers (8-2, 0-1) committed 25 turnovers, which translated into 30 points for the host Vikings.
