Pasadena Poly 49, Webb 41: The Panthers opened Prep League play with a road victory Wednesday evening.

Will Genske led Poly (14-2, 1-0) with 18 points, while Phillip Ou chipped in 14 points.

Serra 56, La Salle 52: Despite a 33-point, 10-rebound effort from Vance Jackson, the Lancers dropped their Del Rey League season-opener at home Wednesday evening.

Milan Acquaah added nine points and two steals for La Salle (8-5, 0-1).

Maranatha 53, Valley Christian 41: It was a victory to start the Olympic League season for the Minutemen on the road Tuesday evening. 

Jeremy Major led the Minutemen (15-4, 1-0) with 20 points, while Jalen Jones chipped in 10 points.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

South Pasadena 50, Temple City 33: The Tigers opened up Rio Hondo League play with a victory Wednesday afternoon.

South Pasadena improved to 13-3 overall and 1-0 in league.

Burroughs 61, Pasadena 36: The Bulldogs dropped a Pacific League road contest Wednesday afternoon.

Kristina Tatikian led the Bulldogs (3-9, 1-2) with 15 points, while Janelle Gil played solid defense and also added seven points and four steals.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Salle 5, Don Bosco Tech 1: Austin Fajardo-Mathes scored two goals in leading the Lancers to a Del Rey League-opening win Wednesday afternoon on the road.

The Lancers (6-6-2, 1-0) received goals from Brandon Sandoval, Briley Venti and Nick Vinski and assists from PJ Siberell, Patrick Sullivan and Venti in the victory. Goalie Duncan Breda added three saves for La Salle.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Pasadena Poly 7, Westridge 1: Katie Wardlaw and Noel Askins paced the Panthers with two goals apiece in a Prep League road victory Wednesday afternoon.

Evan Gancedo, Kayla Valencia and Becca Hanel added a goal each for the Panthers (9-1, 2-0), who received three assists from Wardlaw and one assist from Askins, Gancedo, Sarah Mendenhall and Brooke Edwards. Panthers goalie Mia Fernandez finished with one save.

Whitney White scored an unassisted goal for Westridge (4-4, 1-2), which received a save from Ashley Hebard.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO
