GIRLS' SOCCER

La Salle 1, Pasadena 1 (La Salle wins on penalty kicks, 4-3): Ally Puga, Kim Mejia, Kacey Venti and Kelly Synold converted on penalty kicks Thursday to lead the Lancers (6-2-2) in a Los Tacos Holiday Festival Green Bracket match at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Earlier Thursday in a tournament bracket match, La Salle and Saugus battled to 0-0 score through regulation before the Lancers fell in penalty kicks, 4-3. Synold, India Hines and Mejia scored on penalty kicks. Samantha Koemans, Alise Hilldreth and Hannah Habel scored on penalty kicks for Pasadena (2-2-3).

Pasadena opened the tournament Thursday with a 3-0 bracket loss against Royal. Goalkeeper Jasmin Rodriguez finished with six saves for Pasadena.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Tustin 49, Pasadena 40: The Bulldogs lost each quarter by between one to three points in the second round of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Holiday Classic at Chapmen College on Thursday afternoon.

Forward Brandon Jolley led all scorers with 19 points in pacing the Bulldogs (5-4). Sophomore guard Jeffrey McClendon added nine points. Pasadena will face Fairfax (6-5) in Friday’s third round at 3:30 p.m.

Pasadena Poly 49, Arroyo 38: The Panthers won their second straight game in San Gabriel High Holiday Classic action on Thursday afternoon.

A day earlier, the Panthers (9-1) defeated Torres and now move onto Friday’s pool play finale against Don Bosco Tech (6-5) at 4 p.m.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Maranatha 56, San Diego Torres 38: After opening pool play action of the Westview Holiday Classic in San Diego with a loss Wednesday, the Minutemen bounced back with a victory Friday.

Senior center Fola Adesina turned in a solid effort for Maranatha (3-9) with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Noelle Oki added eight points and eight rebounds and Kei Lani Ando added seven points.

Arcadia 45, Pasadena Poly 42: Despite 21 points, three assists and two blocks from Kiki Yang, the Panthers fell in pool play action of the La Cañada Holiday Ball Classic on Thursday afternoon.

Center Kaitlyn Olah added eight points and 12 rebounds for Poly (10-3), which had its four-game winning streak snapped. The Panthers next face La Salle (8-3) at 2:30 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Glendale 5, La Salle 1: Robbie McCallister scored the Lancers’ lone goal off a set piece kick from Briley Venti in a pool play defeat Thursday afternoon in the La Cañada High Tournament.

Up next for the Lancers (4-4-2) is a match Friday afternoon at 3:30 versus El Monte.

A day earlier, the Lancers were humbled in pool play action Wednesday afternoon by La Cañada, 6-1.

Pasadena Poly in Ontario Christian Tournament: The Panthers finished with an even split in the first day of bracket action on Thursday afternoon.

Poly (3-6-1) first opened with a 4-1 victory over Whittier Christian before falling to Granite Hills, 3-0, in afternoon play.

The Panthers next face Heritage Christian at noon Friday.
