Two men have been charged for their alleged roles in the Christmas Day shooting death of Pasadena resident Victor McClinton, prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Larry Darnell Bishop Jr., 20, faces murder, attempted murder and other charges in the shooting that killed McClinton, 49, and wounded another man just after 11 a.m. near the corner of Newport Avenue and Wyoming Street. Bishop, who prosecutors also allege is a gang member, may face the death penalty.

Bishop, who lives in Chino but who police say frequents Pasadena, was previously convicted of two felony burglaries in San Bernardino County.

Bishop and Gary Aurthur Davis, 20, of Pasadena, who is charged as an accessory to the crime, were expected to face arraignment at the Pasadena courthouse on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Also injured in the shooting was 24-year-old Damion Taylor of Pasadena, who Pasadena police described as a known gang member and likely the intended target of the shooting. Taylor crashed his car into a utility pole at the northwest corner of Newport and Wyoming after he was shot, according to police.

The shooting appears to be unrelated to a second tragedy on Christmas Day in Pasadena, according to prosecutors.

As police engaged in a crackdown in the wake of McClinton's death, a driver sped away from a traffic stop on Marengo Avenue and crashed into a minivan, killing two.

Last week prosecutors filed murder and attempted murder charges against the driver, Darrell Lee Williams, 22, of Pasadena, and passenger Brittany Michelle Washington, 21.

McClinton, a father of two, was a law enforcement technician with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the director of the Brotherhood Community Youth Sports League. More than 400 people attended a vigil in McClinton’s honor Dec. 27 outside Pasadena City Hall.
